MEABC – Social Enterprises

Mid & East Antrim Borough Council’s Grow Your Business in MEA programmes are designed to support growing businesses and social enterprises across the borough. They offer tailored business diagnostics, mentoring and access to grants including the Digital Transformation Flexible Fund, which explicitly supports social enterprises. The goal is to help social enterprises scale, innovate and deepen their community impact.

We met with the Council’s Economic Development Officer to select four enterprises whose stories would best illustrate the diversity and impact of the service. We planned out narrative arcs, origin story, impact on community, business growth, and how Council support made a difference. Key elements such as “why I started / what we do / how MEA support helps / where we’re going. We then filmed interviews with founders and main staff as well as capturing b-roll of café customers, boxing training, creative workshops, Waymaker group work, and community engagement.

The output was our long-form case study videos (3-4 minutes each) for use on MEA’s enterprise webpages and events like Enterprise Week to showcase real social enterprises leveraging Council support.

The enterprise stories brought human faces to MEA’s business-support programmes, demonstrating social impact, sustainability, and growth. The campaign strengthened the legitimacy of MEA’s programmes in the eyes of funders, community partners and prospective entrepreneurs.
